Igor from Boost Appliance Service repaired my subzero refrigerator. He needed to order parts but in general the repair turned over was fast and my fridge is working perfectly right now. The best service in Morristown. Highly recommend!

I was very impressed with their great availability. They scheduled me in quickly and Ramiz was very knowledgeable and detail oriented. The error code we had was not appearing but he still spent 45 minutes making sure everything was checked. I appreciated his attention to detail and not just leaving when the error code wasn't there. We will definitely be returning customers!

A+++ Service. Boost Appliance Service is great. I called on Monday and Mr. Igor came the next day to repair the defrost sensor and drain line of my fridge, he also did thorough maintenance checks on my laundry dryer and laundry washer machine. 3 appliances all in one day. Highly recommended. Answered all my questions and showed me how to maintain my appliances. Thank you.

Eddie did an EXCELLENT job diagnosing, repairing and cleaning my washer and dryer. Completely disassembled it, made it run smoother than ever and made the inside shine like new.

Plenty of kitchens in New Brunswick still have their original GE or Whirlpool ranges from decades back, and they work fine until suddenly they don't. You set the dial to 375 and nothing happens, or the bottom cooks but the top stays cold. That heating element buried inside isn't cooperating anymore. Happens all the time in the 08901 and 08902 zip codes, especially in the older residential blocks near New Brunswick High School where houses were built in the 1960s and 70s. Most of these homes were built with whatever range the developer could source cheaply—Frigidaire, Kenmore, Amana, or early Samsung models—and after 30 to 50 years of daily cooking, the electrical components start to fail. The thermostat sensor drifts. The heating element weakens. The control board gets confused. We fix all of it.

New Brunswick's housing stock is mostly mid-century residential—ranch homes, split-levels, and older colonial-style houses that came with whatever range the builder installed. Many of those original Frigidaire, Kenmore, and Amana units are still running, but they're working harder than they should be after 30, 40, even 50 years of daily use. The constant humidity and temperature swings from central New Jersey weather don't help either. Ovens in these homes tend to develop temperature control issues faster than units in newer construction, and the older electrical wiring in some neighborhoods means voltage fluctuations that stress the thermostat and control boards even more. Around the residential areas near Easton Avenue and Buccleuch Park, we see a lot of GE and Whirlpool ranges with calibration drift—the oven cavity thermometer loses accuracy over time, and homeowners end up baking at 50 degrees higher or lower than intended. The salt-laced humidity from New Jersey's weather also accelerates corrosion on the heating element terminals and the control board contacts, which is why older ovens in New Brunswick fail sooner than the same models in drier climates.

Common Oven/Stove Issues in New Brunswick

Oven won't reach the temperature you set

Your Samsung or GE range shows 375 on the dial but the internal temperature barely climbs past 300. Usually the thermostat sensor has drifted out of calibration, or the heating element itself is weakening and can't generate enough heat. In older homes near Easton Avenue, we see this constantly—the thermostat assembly gets confused after years of cycling on and off, and the oven just gives up trying to reach target temp. The sensor sits in the oven wall and measures the actual cavity temperature; when it fails or drifts, the control board receives false readings and stops heating too early. We test the sensor resistance with a multimeter and replace it if the reading is outside factory specs. Most New Brunswick repairs of this type run same-day.

Uneven heating—top burns, bottom stays raw

Baking a sheet of cookies and half are golden brown while the other half are pale. The issue is usually a failed heating element (top or bottom) or a blocked convection fan that's supposed to circulate hot air evenly. Whirlpool ranges in the 08903 zip code around the residential blocks near Buccleuch Park develop this problem when dust and grease buildup restricts airflow inside the oven cavity. The bottom heating element can burn out completely, leaving only the top element functional—or vice versa. We pull the oven apart, inspect both elements for continuity, and swap out whichever one is dead. The convection fan motor can also seize from grease accumulation; we clean or replace it depending on the damage. Frigidaire models sometimes have a faulty damper door that's supposed to redirect heat, and when it sticks, you get hot spots and cold zones.

Broiler won't ignite or heats only halfway

You flip the broiler switch and either nothing happens or it gets lukewarm. The broiler heating element or the igniter (on gas models) has burned out, or the selector switch itself is stuck. Frigidaire and Kenmore models especially see broiler failure after 15–20 years of occasional use—the element just fatigues and stops responding to the control signal. Gas broilers have a separate igniter that clicks to light the flame; if you hear clicking but no flame, the igniter electrode is worn and needs replacement. Electric broilers have a dedicated heating element that can simply burn open after years of high-temperature cycling. We carry both parts on the truck and can diagnose which one failed in minutes.
